The new planes look like something out of a science-fiction film; in some examples, “bunks” have even been built for economy class passengers, allowing them to rest on long-haul flights. Another idea, which has never been realised, is to offer standing room to increase the capacity of the aircraft.

Even the concept of super and hypersonic flight remains hardly compatible with the new sustainability standards.
One of the most promising segments, in terms of sustainability, concerns the development of electric aircraft for connections between large cities and urban vertiports, specialised airports for vertical aircraft. In this field, Rome and Milan are considered the Italian cities closest to adopting this transport system.
