#10 - Royal Palace of Caserta. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been the set for many films (two episodes of Star Wars, Angels and Demons, Mission Impossible, to name just the most famous). As well as filmmakers, it is visited by 439,813 people every year. Also worthy of note is the beautiful surrounding park, divided into two areas: the Italian garden, with the famous Great Waterfall; and the English garden, with its dense coniferous forest.

#9 - Villa Borghese Museum, Rome. Works by Bernini, Canova, Caravaggio, Raphael, Rubens and Titian are exhibited. On average, 498,477 people visit it every year.

#7 - Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, Turin. The hunting palace of the Savoy ruling family was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1997. Restored and reopened to the public in 2007, it is already in the top ten of the most visited places in Italy. 80 thousand square meters of rooms and corridors and a beautiful garden that are visited by 598,548 tourists a year.

#6 - Boboli Gardens, Florence. Florentine monumental park behind Palazzo Pitti which covers an area of 45 square kilometers beautifully maintained and preserved, with the celebrated fountain of Neptune in the center. Visited every year, on average, by 710,523 people.

#5 - Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome. Monument that dominates the Tiber River, near the Vatican City. Originally, in Roman times, built as a sepulcher for the emperors, it was transformed over the centuries by the Popes, first into a fortress and then into a prison. Here Galileo Galilei was imprisoned and Giordano Bruno tried. Visited by 918,591 people.

#4 - Academy of Florence. Its flagship is Michelangelo's David, one of the most famous marble sculptures in the world, visited not by chance by 1,257,261 visitors.

#3 - Uffizi Gallery, Florence. Museum with the largest collection in the world of Renaissance works, among which the marvelous Birth of Venus by Botticelli stands out. Visited by 1,875,785 people.

#2 - Archaeological excavations of Pompeii. The thrill of walking the streets of an authentic Roman town, preserved almost intact from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, is experienced by 2,457,051 people every year.

#1 - The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, the most representative monument of Rome and Italy attracts 5,625,219 tourists every year and is by far the most visited tourist attraction in our country. It can accommodate up to 50 thousand spectators at the same time. A real boon for the fake Roman centurions who work in the surrounding area, serving as models for tourist photos.

So Rome is on a par with Florence in terms of the number of attractions present in the Top Ten (albeit with almost double the number of visitors). While in second place Turin clearly beats Venice, which surprisingly does not figure in the top ten positions.
