The IMAT - International Medical Admissions Test is the official test for access to single-cycle degree courses in Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry delivered in English at public and private Italian universities. It is a nationally prescribed numbered test, developed in collaboration between the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing.
Unlike the Italian course, where final admission is decided only after a selective exam at the end of the first semester, with the IMAT you only need to pass a single entrance test to secure your place in the best Italian universities. The IMAT takes place once a year, usually in the month of September. Registrations open in July, via the universitaly.it portal. Dates are communicated with official ministerial decree and are identical for all universities.
