Determination, passion and dreams taking flight. These are the ingredients of the path of Luisa La Stella, 27, originally from Bari, who after attending the course for Stopover attendant at Accademia del Lavoro, immediately found a job at a renowned handling company at the’Fiumicino airport.
“Working in an airport has always been a dream. Every time I left for a trip I was fascinated by that world, without imagining how much responsibility lay behind the scenes”, tells Luisa.
From dream to reality through specialised training
Luisa decided to undertake this training four years ago, choosing the area of Passenger Ground Service (PGS). The course provided her with both theoretical and practical skills, enabling her to confidently tackle the airport working world. In particular, knowledge of the Amadeus system - essential for those working in the ticketing office - proved to be a real strength.
"During job interviews, many recruiters were impressed by the certifications I had, including that IATA, one of the most important and recognised in the airport sector.”
From the forecourt to the check-in desk
Luisa's career began on the track, and then evolved into the role of check-in agent, a key figure in passenger assistance and flight management. A job that requires speed, precision, but above all empathy.
"What I love most about my job is teamwork. It is nice to help each other among colleagues, especially in challenging situations. Every day I learn something new.”
Luisa's advice? Never stop
To those who dream of a career in the airport world, Luisa advises to get involved without fear:
“It is a demanding job, but it gives great satisfaction. If you really want it, you can go anywhere. I, for example, am in the process of acquiring new skills for a national airline - one more step towards my goal.”
A glimpse into the future
Luisa's dream does not stop there:
"I want to continue to grow, maybe become a manager or company representative. I know that, step by step, I will succeed.”
And he concludes with a message of gratitude:
