Sustainable energy also for research vessels

traghetto accademia del lavoro

The trend dedicated tosustainable energy in the nautical sector. In addition to electric ferry and the one with wind energy, are the hydrogen research vessels, designed to protect marine ecosystems.
It's called “Zero-V” and it's the fuel cell boat which researchers from Sandia National Laboratories are working on, for scientific expeditions.
The hydrogen research vessels they are the future of marine expeditions and will be a very useful way to study the ocean without making noise and without polluting. The goal is to protect marine life and water quality.
Zero-V stands for “zero-emissions vessel” and demonstrates how it is now possible and urgent to equip boats with an electric motor.
The novelty lies in the fact that today this possibility concerns a research boat, which offers the advantage of not contaminating air or water samples collected in sensitive ecological areas with emissions.

Fuel cells also generate water so pure it could be drunk by theship's crew after conditioning or use it for scientific experiments. In this way, desalination of sea water would be avoided.

The hydrogen ferry it is not only a good example to replicate for the protection of the environment: commercial enterprises are also attentive to the significant reduction in costs that this "technology" entails.
