I'm there Lombardy and Abruzzo the first Italian regions to experiment the electronic veterinary prescription. After the green light of the Ministry of Health to the computerized system for the digitization and traceability of the veterinary drug supply chain and after a first phase of experimentation, the goal of online veterinary prescription it is a matter of fact.
An important step for our country, which finally arrives at a practice already widespread in other countries of theEurope, at the forefront of the adoption of new technologies in the veterinary field, and an objective that is one of the priorities that the Government is given with the adoption ofSimplification Agenda 2015-2017.
The reduction and simplification of operations are the objectives of the new electronic veterinary prescription which, through the use of tablets and smartphones, will allow traceability of veterinary drugs, thanks to the connection to a Central database and thus replacing the obsolete paper recipes.
The Ministry of Healthand is following an experimentation project of the computerized recipe, in collaboration with l'Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute from Abruzzo and Molise.
Beyond Lombardy and Abruzzo, other regions are also showing interest in using the electronic veterinary prescription, which today only concerns food-producing animals, not pets and is voluntary, in the sense that the legislative decree n. 193/2006 there is no obligation to do so.
Pending a legislative proposal that makes the computerized veterinary prescription with the obligation of registration, the experimentation continues, while trying to better communicate the fact that, while modifying the support, the prescription charged to the veterinarian remains unchanged.
