The curriculum represents the first step for whom look for a job or for those who intend to relocate after losing their job or who intend to question themselves again.
Yet, even today, many think that write a resume it is a waste of time, that it is not read and therefore it is useless to prepare or update it. In fact, often, the perception that one has is precisely that the curriculum is no longer the right way to present oneself and that perhaps it would be better to change the tool.
An effective alternative could be the video resume, a way to be able to talk about yourself in a few minutes, to make people understand what your abilities are and to make yourself known with an immediate, more authentic and truthful approach.
For some the curriculum has turned into blog, a digital space where you can collect your skills and knowledge.
But beware, a blog can be a good way to get noticed in world of work, but it will hardly be an adequate substitute for the curriculum, especially in some professional sectors where this form of written presentation document is still needed.
Melius deficere quam abundare
To those who think that the curriculum is obsolete, the answer is that it becomes so if one follows the rule of “melius abundare quam deficere”.
The more things you write in your resume, the more you run the risk that the person who will read it will not be able to get to the end, if only for lack of time.
Better therefore to focus on more meaningful experiences and skills that you want to spend in the next job, perhaps using a more “smart” language, without too many frills and without falling into the biblical or bureaucratic style of writing.
Pay attention to the graphic aspect of the CV
How many times do we stop and read a flyer or poster just because the graphics look appealing? So why shouldn't the same be true for our CV?
We try to enclose everything we have to say about us in a single page: we avoid tainting human resources staff with useless information for the reader; then we make everything beautiful with a layout and a modern, streamlined, perhaps creative or simple and clean layout and graphics.
We will certainly have a much better chance of our document being read and attracting the attention of the recruiter!
