Dubai, one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world which, according to estimates by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), will see 124 million people pass through its airport by 2020, is trying to improve its system airport security.

This safety improvement will go through the introduction of new technological systems for passenger recognition.
In particular, theDubai International Airport would have decided to install a technological tunnel, consisting of 80 hidden cameras, able to scan the face and the iris of the passengers. One of the most luxurious airports in the world, as well as the busiest in the world in terms of international travelers, could only be the first to present such an innovative project.

Passengers will be scanned as they pass through this tunnel and, if already registered, they will receive a green message wishing they have a good trip. If successful, they will be able to go to the gate. If, on the other hand, the outcome of the check should be negative, passengers will be greeted by security agents who will deepen the checks. In the side walls of the tunnel, however, videos with virtual aquariums, deserts or commercials will be shown.

The goals he wants to achieveDubai International Airport with this new technology there are essentially two: the first is to speed up the entire control process and make the passenger travel experience more fluid and simple, a fundamental element when talking about the busiest airport in the world; the second, on the other hand, is to increase the control system and the airport security without affecting the serenity of the passenger thanks to the displays on the side walls of the tunnel.

The first "virtual" tunnel will probably be built starting from the early summer months of 2018 to Terminal 3 ofDubai International Airport. The management, however, has planned other installations by the end of 2020, to make it easier to check passengers and increase airport security. Initially, however, the tunnels will be reserved for customers only Emirates, the only company to already have the infrastructure available, as well as an airline and official partner.
